In Ontario, the construction industry is subject to specific health and safety regulations, including requirements for first aid training to ensure the well-being of workers. The key requirements for first aid training in the construction industry in Ontario are governed by the Occupational Health and Safety Act (OHSA) and its associated regulations. Here are the essential points to consider:
1. First Aid Training:
Designated First Aiders: In accordance with the OHSA, employers in the construction industry must have designated first aiders at the workplace, especially if there are more than five workers regularly present at a job site.
First Aid Certification: First aiders must hold a valid and recognized first aid certification. In Ontario, this typically includes certification in Standard First Aid and CPR (Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation). The certification must be from a WSIB approved training agency. Barrie First Aid training is an authorized provider of EMT Canada’s WSIB approved program.
2. Training Requirements:
Standard First Aid and CPR Level C: The recommended level of first aid training for construction workers is Standard First Aid and CPR Level C. This training covers a wide range of injuries and medical emergencies.
Training Renewal: First aid certification typically expires after three years. Therefore, it's essential for designated first aiders to undergo regular renewal training to ensure their skills and knowledge are up to date.

We have all the necessary equipment to travel to your company's office or to a specific jobsite. We bring a laptop, projector, first aid supplies, mannequins, etc. - all we need is enough space to work, and we'll take it from there.
